Position Summary GroundWork Renewables is seeking a Systems Configuration Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team. This role requires a strong knowledge base in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), SKU Management, Bill of Material (BOM) creation, solar energy production projects and meteorological product design and functionality. This person will operate with a high degree of independence while interfacing regularly with engineering, sales, manufacturing, and project management teams. The ideal candidate is technically rigorous, detail-oriented, and comfortable serving as the primary configuration authority across the full project lifecycle — from initial sales qualification through manufacturing handoff and field deployment. Key Responsibilities Systems/Product Requirements Management Serve as the technical interface between customers, sales, project teams, and engineering to define project requirements. Review customer specifications, RFPs, and measurement objectives to determine sensor and equipment requirements Identify project-specific constraints, risks, and technical assumptions Develop technical compliance matrices and maintain requirements traceability Generate customer clarification requests and develop client technical requirement logs SKU & Product Configuration Management Create and maintain SKUs across new and existing projects, sales proposals, manufacturing, spare parts, and O&M projects using NetSuite software suite. Manage sub-assemblies, configurable product structures, and NetSuite SKU attributes governance Ensure consistency between manufacturing, and sales product SKU’s. Provide technical support during opportunity development and proposal creation. Work with System Engineering team to lead the development and refinement of product configurations for meteorological devices and solar energy systems during proposal phases Estimate engineering and deployment requirements; identify technical risks during bid development Support customer technical discussions and sales qualification activities System Architecture & Configuration Standardize SKU creation and usage for various system configurations where possible; produce system architecture details and configuration packages. Lead the selection and Implementation of a new Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) program Inform project-specific Bills of Materials (BOMs) and configuration drawings. Develop the specific system configuration required to meet project requirements using GroundWork’s product portfolio. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Documentation Liaise with project managers, sales, and stakeholders to gather and align-on product and project requirements. Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure proper assembly, BOM readiness, and testing of solar energy systems and meteorological equipment. Participate in peer review checks on project documentation prior to submission to clients or manufacturing. Guide various tasks and components of larger projects; interface with internal stakeholders. Evaluate client requirements for feasibility during technical meetings and documentation reviews. Qualifications & Experience Extensive experience (5-7 years) with configuration management, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tools, ERP or product data management (PDM) systems (NetSuite experience preferred), and/or BOM governance is required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment and independently with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication (written and verbal) skills. Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time to GroundWork offices, project sites, manufacturing facilities, vendor locations, and other business locations as needed. 3+ years of experience in Meteorological systems and equipment used for Solar Energy Assessment and, preferably with a focus on Utility Scale – Solar energy projects. Proficiency with AutoCAD Tools (Vault, Inventor, Fusion, or Electrical). Experience with sensors and hardware is a plus (e.g., pyranometers, all-in-one weather stations, wind, hail, data loggers, etc.). Preference for knowledge and experience working in various testing environments (Bench, laboratory, and field testing).
