Join us in leading the change!
Working as a Power Systems Engineer at EPE you will gain experience developing and conducting modeling and analysis for transmission planning. You will contribute to systems design studies, generation interconnection planning, studies, and applications. And you will also learn the foundation of collecting and setting up data to perform preliminary analysis to support higher staff engineering levels.
How you can make an impact:
- Building static and dynamic power system models including new technologies such as inverters, wind turbines, or storage systems which may require interaction with equipment vendors to define the models.
- Performing distribution/transmission import/export analyses (aka VAR/Watt injection studies), generator (rotating machinery or static inverters) capability studies, model quality tests/ benchmarking, and site selection support.
- Frequency domain (i.e. ETAP) and time domain (i.e. EMTP/PSCAD) transient/steady-state study and analysis to perform load flow, short circuit, cable ampacity, TRV, RRRV, TOV, insulation coordination, harmonics, flicker, and arc flash studies.
- Assist in the submission of generation and load interconnection applications to ISOs (i.e., ERCOT).
- Knowledge of grounding study (Substation, distribution) is considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI study is considered an asset.
- Making sure to complete assigned projects on time while adhering to project quality and budget objectives.
